  1. Geometric design  of urban streets;
  2. Geometric design of crossings and intersections;
  3. Geometric design of dual carriageways roads; superelevation transition models;
  4. Roads geotechnical problems: fill and excavation; slopes;
  5. Drainage: in-depth and on-surface.

Teaching method

In parallel to the lectures on transportation infrastructures and the expositions on exercises concerning geometric design, students work in group to conceive a road section project. The evaluation comprises the elements prepared for the group project, the attendance of lectures and practical sessions and 2 written tests. 

Evaluation method

The evaluation includes two components: theoretical-pratical (60%); project (40%).

The theoretical-pratical component includes 2 written tests during the semester.

The project component includes 1 team work/project.

It is approved who complies with the following: (i) frequency; (ii) final grade equal or higher than 9.5/20; (iii) grade on written tests equal or higher than 9.0/20. 

The evaluation depends on getting frequency, which requires attending 2/3 of classes and doing the proposed work/project.
