Objectives

The objectives of this course are focused on understanding the structure of a cellular network and the roles assigned to the different functional blocks. It is also studied the operational principles of a few local area networks protocols. Students acquire skills in simulation of cellular systems, studying the performance of these systems for different scenarios of propagation. The course also includes the development of applications for next-generation cellular systems.

Prerequisites

The students attending this course should have some backgroung in basic communications mechanisms utilized at the physical layer (e.g. modulation, error coding and network organization thoug protocol''s stack).
