Objectives

The main objectives of this course are:
• Develop knowledge on electronics around typical applications.
• Became acquainted with electronics components, its main features and its selection.
• Acquire skills to implement and evaluate electronic circuits.
• Learn how to design some typical circuits such as power supplies, or circuits with operational amplifiers.
• Know the tools and testing instruments for testing of electronic circuits

Subject matter

The course program will be developed around selected projects that provide a good representation of analog electronics applications.

The projects will be initially presented in the class (problem-solving) sessions, providing the full theoretical framework, where the dimensioning of the projects will be performed.

In the labs, the students will do theirs specific project specification, simulation and testing in breadboard.

The typical projects will be under the topics:

  1. From the transistor to the operational amplifier (OPAMP)
  2. The OPAMP as a toolbox.
  3. Power supply design,
  4. Switched mode power supply

Each project will be adjusted or changed aligned to the perceived market needs and the professors’ experience.
