Subject matter
Solution of a research problem, and write-up of a concise report describing the problem, the approach, and the results of the work.
The concrete research problem to be addressed will be defined by the supervisor''''s proposal.
Bibliography
Selected readings, to be defined by the proposal''''s supervisor.
Teaching method
Research work under the guidance of an advisor.
Write-up of a final report, also under the guidance of the advisor.
Evaluation method
The advisor will evaluate the work carried out and the report written by the student, according to the following criteria with equal weight:
1. Quality of the work and level of scientific contribution.
2. Maturity and independence in solving research problems.
3. Prior knowledge and ability to apply them to their research.
4. Whether the proposal''''s initial (or adjusted) goals were met.
5. Quality of the report: writing quality and ability to capture the essence of the work and describe it at the right abstraction level.
For grades greater or equal to 18, a second member of the faculty will also evaluate the work. For proposed grades greater or equal to 19, the student will subsequently undergo an oral exam, where the committee is headed by the course responsible and does not include the advisor. This exam will determine the final course grade, which cannot be lower than 15.
