Objectives
It is intended that the student acquires knowledge in Field Theory, Galois Theory and supplement their knowledge of Group Theory.
Prerequisites
Elementary knowledge of Group Theory and Ring Theory customarily provided in a Mathematics degree.
Subject matter
1. Groups: group actions. Sylow theorems. Nilpotent groups and solvable groups. Classification of finitely generated abelian groups.
2. Fields and Galois Theory.

Teaching method
Due to the small number of students, this year the course will work in tutorial regime.
Each student should develop his study independently.
Evaluation method
There are three tests that can substitute the final exam in case of approval. Otherwise the student must succeed the final exam. Detailed rules are available in the portuguese version.
