Objectives
This block aims to review the fundamental concepts of organic chemistry, in order to integrate students and prepare them for the following specialized blocks. It''s intended to have great malleability of subjects to be taught, that should be adjusted each year, to the average profile of students enrolled in this course.
Prerequisites
The discipline should do the integration of recently admitted students in the 2nd cycle. Should only be attended by students with gaps in their training base in Organic Chemistry
Subject matter
• Review concepts of structural analysis.
• Reactivity of organic compounds. Reduction and Oxidation of Organic Compounds (mechanisms and chemoselectivity).
• Use of protecting groups
• Saturated Heterocycles: ring closing reactions
Teaching method
The subjects will be taught in the tutorial system
Evaluation method
Problem sets will be periodically provided to the students which does not exclude the evaluation by written or oral examination.
