Objectives
Give the students competence to produce documentation for contemporary art preservation.
Subject matter
1. A brief history of documentation for the preservation of contemporary art
2. Contemporary art, tangible, intangible. Documentation and artistic process. Installation, Performance, Media Art.
3. Documentation, theory and ethics of conservation. Casuistic approach versus generalistic approach.
4. Documentation and artistic intention, originality and authenticity.
5. Notions of Documentation and Museums practices.
6. Documentation production: the role of social and human sciences
7. Methodolodies and techniques for the production of contemporary art documentation: interviews, oral history, triangulation and validation.
