Subject matter
Physics of polymeric electronic conductors: Polipirrol, polianiline and politiophen. Charge transfer complexes. Percolation phenomena of charge and conductivity. Design and implementation of specific electrodes. Optical and electro-optical phenomena in Ferroelectric polymers. Review of the basic concepts of design and manufacturing and operation of organic electronic devices: light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), photosensitive devices (solar cells, and photo detectors) and field-effect transistors (OFETs). Will also be discussed, organic memories, lasers and chemical sensors. Ionic conductive polymers. The architecture of conductivity and Ionic polymers. Dynamic disorder effects on the transport properties. Electrode-electrolyte interface. Other types of solid state electrolytes. Applications of polielectrólitos.
Teaching method
The lectures are given in a class room with slideshow. Is accompanied by practical demonstrations and solving of problems. The practical lessons are given in lab.
Evaluation method
Frequency: For admission to the exam the students must have attended the practical lessons of discipline. They will do a project of developing a device using conducting polymers which will be presented, discussed and classified (NP).
Approval: There is the possibility to be approved in the course by two tests whose average must be greater than or equal to ten. The final ranking will be: N = 0.5 + 0.5 NP NE, where NE is the average or tests or exam grade.
