Objectives
With respect to Knowledge stemming from a historical and philosophical approach to science and technology, students will acquire knowledge of:
- Individuals
- Concepts and Theories
- Instruments and Techniques
- Institutions (both formal and informal)
- Publications
With respect to Comprehension, students will be prepared to:
- Understand the existence of a plurality of modes of action and thought, in past and in the present
- Assess the complexity and diversity of situations, events and mentalities
- Understand issues inherent to the historical record
- Develop of a critical and anti-reductionist attitude
With respect to Competencies, students will develop the ability to:
- Read, interpret, use and criticize relevant documents and other sources
- Define tasks and solve problems, by developing the ability of selecting and synthesizing information.
- Build up arguments that are structured, coherent, relevant and concise.

Teaching method
Presentation of the topics by the lecturer; reading and discussion of a selection of texts and audio-visual material on the topics outlined in the syllabus.
Evaluation method
The evaluation of students will be based on:
1- students participation in the lectures
2- an essay on a film
3- two mini-tests
4-oral presentations of selected topics
