Objectives
To describe major body mechanisms of regulation with particular emphasis on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. To interpret the significance of major functional, i.e. physiological, parameters.
Subject matter
Essential characterization of the cardiovascular system and its regulatory mechanisms. Fundamentals of excitability and the excitability of cardiac cell; essential aspects of the ECG. Essential characterization of the respiratory system and its regulatory mechanisms; mechanical and dynamical aspects participating in the respiratory function. Neuromuscular transmission and mechanical characterization of muscle contraction. Fundamentals of neuromuscular control.
