Objectives
The course contributes to better understand the management processes and support the development of strategies in Industrial Engineering area.
Subject matter
Industrial strategy: productivity and competitiveness; strategy in industry and services; strategic management and functional management; strategic planning and strategic thinking; the role of management.
Strategic analysis: environmental scanning and industry analysis (contextual and transactional); external factors; internal scanning and organisational analysis (resources and competencies); value chain analysis.
Strategy formulation: vision, mission, policy and objectives; product and market analysis; generation of strategic options and selection and evaluation of alternatives; types of strategies (growth, selling, diversification, integration and alliances).
Strategy implementation and control: organisational structure; management control and indicators board; implementation plan (allocation an control of resources, project management); management of change; evaluation and revision processes. Strategic management of human resources: teams and leadership; downsizing and outplacement strategies; motivation; performance analysis. Development of entrepreneurship culture.Bibliography
