Objectives
The curricular unit objective is the realization of a research work in a due theme, according to the Thesis Plan approved by the TAC, and carries out by the students in autonomy. The students acquire the skills to apply the adequate research and development of the experimental methodologies to realize the thesis work and develop the ability concerning the time management and individual strengthening and the competences to elaborate the Thesis. The students develop the ability to work with a multidisciplinary research team and the competences to communicate the scientific results in writing and oral formats to specialized and not specialized audiences, namely its publication in peer review journals and conferences, either national as international ones.
Prerequisites
Thesis Plan approved by the Thesis Accompanying Committee.
Subject matter
To perform the research work according to the Thesis Plan approved by the TAC, the publication of results, the thesis`s writing and its public presentation and evaluation.
Bibliography
Scientific papers and reference works in the scientific area of the thesis subject and related ones.
Teaching method
The learning methodologies includes individual students` sessions with the supervisor and co-supervisor, if it is case, for discussion and activities’ following up and to ensure the requirements’ fulfillment necessary for the thesis`s elaboration. It can also include the attendance to specific seminaries. The students’ work is done mainly in autonomy. Yearly the Thesis Accompanying Committee analyses the students’ progress reports, evaluates the difficulties, suggests news approaches, advices readings and contacts deemed useful for reaching the Thesis goals and will approve the Thesis´s submit for public presentation and discussion.
Evaluation method
The evaluation will be done by the Ph. board members. It will be considered the student performance in the fulfilment of the work plan, its written registration (Ph thesis and scientific papers already published or to be published) and the student performance during the public submit of the thesis.
