Objectives
The aim of this course is to acquaint the students with the technology of coatings and thin films commonly used in coating processes from the functional and structural point of view.
Prerequisites
There is no mandatory precedence.
Subject matter
The aim of this course is to give the theoretical and practical technologies of coatings and thin films currently used. Will be given an introduction on the classification and type of technology requirements to be followed by the following technologies: sputtering (dc and rf), chemical vapor deposition, chemical vapor deposition assisted by rf; thermal evaporation and sol-gel spray pyrolysis, laser assisted deposition. Examples of different types of coatings will be given. The program concludes with the characterization techniques used for caracterize structure, composition and physical properties.

Teaching method
The teaching is conducted through lectures with exposure of matter in powerpoint and laboratory lessons.
Evaluation method
The lectures are conducted using the powerpoint presentation. The laboratory work includes an application component through exercises and then the experimental work. Realization of a written test (60%) and complete a report that includes all the practical work in laboratory (40%).
