Objectives
Main objective of this course is the design and sizing of water treatment facilities, by simulating real situations, including the most relevant steps, summarizing and aggregating the knowledge already acquired by students in previous CU and seeking to encourage the analysis and decision making.
Prerequisites
None
Subject matter
Approach is similar for both water and wastewater treatment plant design exercices
- for a given horizon, analysis of qualitative characteristics, estimation of quantitative characteristics and analysis of quality objectives - setting the treatment line (liquid and solid phase) and the linear diagram - preparation of mass balances and pre-sizing - implementation - preparation of texts and draws

Teaching method
In this CU there will be two group assignments during the semester. For each of them there will be set weekly goals, corresponding to the development of the most important steps leading to the realization of a project, to be developed by the students during class
Evaluation method
The evaluation of this course includes the execution of two projects (teamwork -WWTP and WTP) and the individual discussion of each one
