Objectives
Justify epidemiological and statistical methods and approaches applied to occupational health,
Have statistical knowledge to solve health research with descriptive and inferential statistical methods and distinguish between sample and population issues,
Have SPSS skills to manage data, make statistical analysis and interpretation of statistical results in health research,
Have knowledge about general epidemiological methods, including study design and analysis and interpretation of risk measures,
Identify and evaluate accuracy issues on measuring exposition and outcome in Occupational Health field,
Have knowledge on implementation criteria of screening programs, as well as, analysis and interpretation of accuracy measures of screening tests,
To apply epidemiological research results in the control of disease and health problems of occupational health,
Have critical and systematical skills to interpret epidemiological research reports and knowledge components of intervention programs in public health.
Prerequisites
To be enrolled at Occupational Medicine Specialization Course
Subject matter
Make a data structure in SPSS and practice of data management,
Descriptive statistics: frequency tables, graphs, central and dispersion measures,
Confidence intervals and hypothesis tests, Type I and type II errors, p-value,
Chi-square test, t test, ANOVA, correlation analysis,
Interpretation of cases of study,
Design of the different type of epidemiological studies,
To make analysis and interpretation of epidemiological measures,
To measure exposition and outcome: the error in epidemiology,
Screening programs: accuracy measures of screening tests,
Systematic appraisal of epidemiological studies
The use of epidemiology in occupational risk management.
