Objectives

  At the end of the module, students enrolled in the specialized area of ​​health promotion, should be able to: (i) integrate the principles and strategies for health promotion in the organizational development of the school and the company, (ii) identify indicators for evaluation of the impact of different interventions on the organizational environment - school and workplace; and (iii) identify and assess both opportunities and constraints but also examples of good practice in this field of public health.

Subject matter

(i) Introduction: the school and the workplace as key settings for health promotion, (ii) Workplace Health Promotion: theoretical and societal context. Networks and national and international cases: The European Network for Workplace Health Promotion:  (iii) The Occupational Medicine, Occupational Health and Health Promotion in the Workplace: Portuguese lessons (iv) The school as a space of socialization and learning; concept of Health Promoting School; networks; Public Health and School Health. (v)  Oral health in schools. The National Program of Oral Health.

Teaching method

 Theoretical-practical sessions, including exposure with debate and, whenever possible, with the participation of professionals (specialists in occupational medicine and / or public health) or community members to discuss the opportunities, potential and constraints of integrated organizational development, (ii) individual and group work, (iii) individual test for the final evaluation of the unit,  using also a case.

Evaluation method
