Subject matter
The \"Monadologie\", of Leibniz.
It is intended to analyze each of the paragraphs, shedding light into all of its implicit consequences. The analysis should be rigorous and complete, exposing how short statements may encapsulate multiple concepts and descriptions.
At its core, one shows in which ways the complex concepts of “monad” and “monadology” decisively influenced the ensuing philosophical reasoning.
Teaching method
At the beginning, the text’s analysis will be carried out by the lecturer. On a second stage, each student will choose one (or several) paragraphs from “Monadology” to be presented in the seminar. Each presentation should end in a discussion between all seminar’s participants. At the end of the academic year, each student must produce a written essay on his chosen paragraph(s) from “Monadology”.
Evaluation method
Assessment: seminar presentation (50%); written essay (50%).
