Objectives
Achieve skills compatible with level B2 of CEFR:
a) Broaden skills of the student’s listening comprehension ability to different expressions of the French language within and outside the borders of the hexagon (Francophonie) as well as the long and complex discourses of its expertise (conferences).
b) Acquiring language and communication tools for understanding and to produce a clear and detailed oral discourse on topics related to its expertise before an audience of specialists or non-specialists.
c) Provide you with academic models of writing develop his critical sense, to explain his reasoning in a clear and detailed and substantiate his interpretations.
d) Acquire knowledge relating to the cultural life in francophone countries and relevant events of the twentieth century for a better understanding of French society today and its ties with the Francophone countries.
e) Expose the different representations regarding the same object from different cultural perspectives.
Prerequisites
French B2.1
Subject matter
1) Study of the integral autobiographical narrative of Azouz Begag, Le Gone du Chaabi, Paris, Seuil, 1966, whose theme focuses on the lives of Algerian immigrants in France in the 60s, and a novel by François Begaudeau, Entre les murs, Paris, Gallimard, 2006 which is a reflection of the heterogeneity of public school and the role of public schooling today in France.
2) Written Task: construction of an autobiographical narrative focusing on the educational background of the student.
3) study of these narratives from the standpoint of character building, as well as of space and time.
4) Understanding and listening assignments from audio and video recordings - discussions on issues of colonization, emigration, the integration of minorities into French society and the role of the school - completed by producing a critical synthesis.
5) Introduction to the dissertation and awareness of historical and cultural aspects of this model of academic writing.

2 written tests in class : 50%
1 spoken task - discursive/informative - (1 group) and active participation in class– 25%
individuals written texts of different types (an autobiography task - for chapters ; a dissertation task and a narrative task – 25%
Minimum attendance: 70% of classes (except student workers)
