Objectives

a) To identify the main debates related to the historiography of the modern age;
b) To compare the Portuguese state of the art with the international state of the art;
c) To promote profound knowledge on several specializing areas of historical research and their relations with the other social sciences.

Evaluation method

There are two elements that will be evaluated, one concerning the first part of the programme, the other concerning the second part. This second element is to be decided in agreement whit each specific specializing area (50%). The first element consists of a writing an individual essay (35%) and class discussion (15%). This programme will allow the acknowledgment of general and specific developments concerning the state of the art.
