Objectives

It is expected that the student:
a) Be able to define the main movements and trends of thought, culture and politics in the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
b) Identify and list the main themes of thought, culture and politics in the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
c) understands the complexity of the sources and respective speeches of thought, culture and politics in the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
d) Review the process of interpretation and writing of thought, culture and politics in the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
e) Appreciate the specificity of multiple approaches of thought, culture and politics in the nineteenth and early twentieth century.

Teaching method

Classroom sessions will include lectures about themes and issues and discussions based on scheduled readings.

Evaluation method

Students´ oral participation in class presentations and debates (30%) and writing an essay, structured as a paper (70%).
