Objectives
Provide the students to develop skills in:
- Systems architectures for data acquisition; generic characterization of systems for data acquisition; identification of main blocks; characterization of functions; systems development methodologies using dedicated hardware, discrete, specific and programmable integrated circuits, and / or microcontrollers.
- Signal conditioning: use of operational amplifiers; settings, compensations and linear and non-linear corrections; conversions of voltage / current / frequency; galvanic isolation; case studies and applications with multiple transducers.
- Digital-Analog Conversion: characterization, converters specification, direct and indirect methods, architectures.
- Analog-Digital Conversion: characterization, converters specification, asynchronous methods with direct and indirect controller, architectures.
- Solutions for the acquisition of data (centralized versus distributed); traditional instrumentation versus virtual instrumentation; remote systems; interfaces RS-232, RS-485 and IEEE-488.
- Cyber Physical Systems. Smart Sensors, Smart Objects and data acquisition in the advent of the Internet of Things.
- Analysis of cases: Development of advanced systems for data acquisition using LabView; Development of solutions with cloud services for data acquisition in BlueMix environment. Use of National Instruments’s DAQ for intelligent interfacing with sensors.
