Objectives
The objective of the curricular unit is the realization of a research work in a specific theme of one specialty of the Geology field, according to the Thesis Plan approved, which is carried out by the students in autonomy. The students acquire the skills to apply the adequate research and development of the experimental methodologies to realize the thesis work, formulate new questions and develop the ability regarding the time management, individual strengthening, and the competences to elaborate the Thesis. The students develop the ability to work with a multidisciplinary research team and the competences to communicate the scientific results in writing and oral formats to specialized and nonspecialized audiences, namely its publication in peer review international journals. The PhD student must also develop his scientific communication skills in written and oral form.
Subject matter
The PhD student performs the research work according to the Thesis Plan approved. Work is carried out in the field, when appropriate, and in the laboratory individually and as team member. Continuous review of the literature in the field of study. Participation in laboratory meetings. Participation in seminars and in national and international conferences. Writing of the results towards its publication. The thesis’s writing and its public presentation and discussion.
