Objectives
1. To learn the basic technologies and methodologies of the industrial automation.
2. To develop the abstract reasoning capabilities on identifying possible models and solutions for small to medium complexity automation problems, with the help of the learned methodologies and technologies.
3. To give the students the capability of implementing true automation solutions, namely by laboratory practice.
4. To inhabit the students on searching for adequate automation equipments, available on the market, for different automation problems.
Subject matter
1. Introduction to automatic systems: automation, control and supervision.
2. Automatic systems specification.
3. Automation with electromagnetic technology.
4. Common electromagnetic control schemes.
5. Automation with pneumatic and electropneumatic technologies.
6. Automatic systems specification and design with the GRAFCET.
7. Automatic systems specification and design with the GRAFCET and the GEMMA.
8. Programmable logic controllers (PLCs): 8.1. Schneider Electric PLC TSX3721: programming in languages Ladder (LD), Instruction List (IL), SFC / Grafcet (SFC) and Structured Text (ST); 8.2 Twido PLC: programming in languages LD and IL; 8.3 Zelio PLC: programming in languages LD, functional block diagram (FBD) and SFC.
9. Implementation of digital controllers on PLC TSX3721.
10. DC and AC motor speed controller technologies. Programming of AC speed controllers from Omron and Schneider Electric.
11. Introduction to industrial field networks (Modbus, Canopen, ASI, Profibus, industrial Ethernet, etc).
