Objectives
1. In depth understanding of how the different types of information systems are changing the reality of organizations, markets and management.
2. Characterize the main business applications and key information systems and communication arquitectures.
3. Understand as the Internet, e-Business, e-Commerce, Social Networking and Mobile Computing are changing the reality of organizations. Ability to perform a web portal.
4. Knowing about the digital business models.
5. Knowing how to model processes, information, and data and how to develop a relational database.
6. Develop capacity for strategic planning of information systems and project management of IS

To attend this course students do not need any specific competence.

Teaching method
The teaching methodology of this course has two main components: a component of Exploration and a componente of Development. In the first component, students are given a set of cross-cutting topics relevant and of the importance, impact and characteristics of information systems for industrial management and engineering. In the second component, students are required to deliver four assignments that require the implementation of the main theoretical concepts.
Evaluation method
Tis curricular unute is assessed through evaluation of 3 assignments, and the evaluation of results has three evaluation elements:
Oral Presentation (30%),
Multimedia Presentation (20%),
Written Report (50%).
The weigth of each assignment is
1st Assignment: 20%
2nd Assignment: 30%
3rd Assignment: 35%
A final Test will be conducted inviddually at the end of the semester (15%)
