Objectives
This course aims to provide students with skills to deliver maps, analytics and geographic information to a wider audience using lightweight clients and custom applications on the web and smart devices. It covers some of the ESRI suite of webGIS technologies, including ArcGIS online, Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, Collector for ArcGIS mobile app and the ArcGIS Runtime SDKs for Mobile.
Prerequisites
Previous experience with geographical data and ArcGIS software is recommended.
Subject matter
1.Building web apps using the cloud.
2.Best practices for web GIS app design.
3.Volunteered Geographical Information.
4.Building apps without programming for webGIS.
5.Spatial analytics online and geoprocessing services.
6.The ArcGIS API for JavaScript. The Google Maps JavaScript API.
7.Mobile GIS.

Teaching method
Theoretical and practical classes with software.
Teaching language is Portuguese. If there are non-portuguese speaking students and or professors, the course will be in English.
Evaluation method
1st phase
6 assignments (groups of 2 students) to be sent by email (30%).
Final group (max. 4 students) project with discussion (30%).
Test during the classes (40%). The test has no minimum grade.
2nd phase
6 assignments (30%).
Exam (70%). Exam's minimum grade is 8.5 points.
