Objectives

The Management Seminar aims to offer a global overview of the several areas of Management, helping students to integrate the different disciplines at an Undergraduate level. It also intends to bring students closer to the enterprises reality through case study analysis, discussions with managers and technicians and developments of Business Plans.

Teaching method

The Management Seminar is structured as follows:
-presentations on advanced research topics on Management, followed by discussions with researchers and professors;
-case study discussions led by managers and technicians;
-work projects inside enterprises to solve real problems;
-built Business Plans for start-ups.

Evaluation method

The final Exam is mandatory and must cover the entire span of the course. Its weight in the final grade can be between 30 to 70%. The reminder of the evaluation can consist of class participation, midterm exams, in class tests, etc. Overall, written in class assessment (final exam, midterm) must have a weight of at least 50%. The Seminar will not be valaidated of the students miss more than ONE Session with enterprises. In the last half hour in the sessions with enterprises, each student does a small Report (<1 page). The Session Report is structured according three issues:
-1. Main issues analysed
-2. Strengths of the case or practices
-3. Recommendations for improvements and/or suggestions.

The final grade in the Management Seminar takes in account:
-Individual Reports and Participation (50%);
-Work projects (50%)
