Objectives

In this course, students will become familiar with the topics and tools necessary to understand the interaction of law within their daily life, especially with regards to Business and Economics.

Prerequisites

Subject matter

- A study of law in today s world:

I. The law production process. Who makes the rules, and where The portrait of the Portuguese Parliament and Government, whilst entities belonging to the international order.

II. Law, tradition, jurisprudence, doctrine and the Law s general principles
- The hierarchy of the sources and branches of Law. What is the most important rule, how are laws organized (The Law Codes).

- The importance of custom and jurisprudence in Portuguese law. How much are tradition and the judge´s opinion worth

- Who administers the law The Courts, the DA, and the lawyers.

- The concept of litigious: what is the search for justice in court for, and how long does it take.

III. The legal relationship
- Why talk about legal relationship To simplify a language apparently complex: The individual, Society and the Sovereign State .
