Objectives
It is intended that students become aware of various methodologies and laboratory techniques covering a broad range of areas and whose diversity allows designing research strategies for specific scientific issues, with application of laboratory techniques with translational interest.
We also aim students to acquire the minimum theoretical training (accepted by law) in laboratory animal science and a practical course of animal experiments, which will complete the minimum qualification required by law for crediting to research in animal models.
In the laboratory domain, it is intended that students acquire specific skills and work "hands-on" with expeditious and modern techniques of Flow Cytometry, Epigenetics, Proteomics, Molecular Genetics and Pathologic Anatomy.
Prerequisites
Subject matter
Biosafety and Good Laboratory Practice; Animal experimentation; Flow Cytometry; Epigenetics and Cancer;
Clinical proteomics; Molecular Genetics: application to clinical diagnosis; Pathology - Cells, Tissues, and Disease.

Teaching method
Lectures and practical courses will be taught with the help of computer support methods. The practical classes will be ministered with the help of audiovisual media, and also exemplification of laboratory techniques and that will be performed by students as well. In some modules e-learning will be available.
Evaluation method
Each module will define the forms and criteria of evaluation to be considered (exams, participation in class,
technical execution capacity, reports).
Students must obtain a positive classification in all the modules in which they are registered. In case of failure in one module, if approved in the practical component (if applicable), the student will only have to make a new written test to pass the module. Final approval at the UC is subject to approval in all modules in which the doctoral candidate has registered.
