It is a basic unit for other UC´s and for the rest of the course.

The discipline of socio-anthropological theories is thought to form a theoretical basis in social sciences. Basal authors such as Marx & Engels, Durkheim, Weber, Gramsci and the structuralists, are the starting point for themes that are debated with more recent authors like Bourdieu, Foucault and Goffman.

Teaching method
The classes consis of the presentation by the lecturer of the authors and their work. The reading suggestions are the basis for the debate. Critical spirit and debate are encouraged. In quantitative terms about 50% of the classes are expositive.
Evaluation method
There will be two alternative models of evaluation:
A) Periodic evaluation: at the end of each module there will be a test (Total = 3). The two frequencies with the highest classification will be considered for evaluation. These notes can be increased up to five values through the reports of activities, the attendance and the discussion of the proposed texts.
B) Global Frequency (without consultation) to be held at the end of the semester (31 May 2017).
Final exam: June 28, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.
