Objectives

1. Acquire thorough knowledge of the authors of the European philosophy of the modern era, through the critical study of texts.
2. Acquire a thorough knowledge of concepts and methodological conceptions of modern philosophy, as well as the ability to situate them in their historical context.
3. Acquire a thorough knowledge of methodological and doctrinal \\"conflicts\\" of modern philosophy, in its articulation with the philosophical problems that are related.
4. Acquiring knowledge of relevant philosophical issues through the study of their treatment in the modern period.
5. Acquiring the capacity for critical and independent reading some fundamental philosophical texts of the modern age.
6. Acquire a thorough understanding of the relationships between the main lines of development of modern philosophy and the evolution of science from the Renaissance.
7. Acquire the basic research skils concerning problems of Modern Philosophy.

Anthropology, Ethics and Politics in Early Modern Philosophy from Descartes to Kant
1. The principles of Modern Anthropology.
2. The difference and complementarity between Morality and Politics in Modern Philosophy.
3.Rousseau´s Moral Science and Politics: the modern natural law.
4. Rousseau, Kant and Habermas and the principles of \"political law\".
5. The complementarity between law and moral in the ethics of discussion and the \"principle of democracy\".
6. Positive and negative liberty from Hobbes to Kant.

Teaching method

The teaching methods include lectures and practical classes with the same academic weight. Discussion of philosophical texts on the great themes of Modern Philosophy.

Evaluation method

The evaluation consists of frequency (40%); work with oral defense (40%); continuous evaluation and participation in class (20%).
