Objectives
1) Learn to relate the different spatio-temporal dimensions inherent to Ancient Egypt and understand them both in a synchronic and diachronic perspective;
2) Know the main and most current historiographical interpretations relating to the studied themes;
3) Know the major historical documents and be able to analyze and interpret them, integrating them in their historical context;
4) Know Ancient Egypt political, social, economic, cultural and religious context;
5) Develop oral and written skills, recognizing the main concepts and the adequate terminology;
6) Acquire knowledge and skills that enable a deeper study of Ancient Egypt.

1.2. Geographical characterization of the territory and ethnic diversity.

3. The rhythms of History
3.1. The concept of History.
3.2. Periodization.
4. The Pharaonic State.
4.1.The Pharaoh: divine origin of royalty. Royal transmission and jubilee. Power exercise: the executive.
4.2. Central and provincial administration. Legislative function.
4.3. The social structure and everyday life mode. The family.
4.4. The economic activities.
5. Religious Universe
5.1.Cosmogonies; creation and time.
5.2. The divine: from the demiurge to plurality. The religious syncretism phenomenon. Gods histories; The return to unity: Akhenatens proposal.
5.3. The cult: the rites lexicon. Everyday cult and the solemn liturgies.
5.4. Man and the divine: concept of man and life conduct the Maat order. The personal piety or religion; Magic.
5.5. Vanquishing death: beliefs, rituals and funerary texts. Hereafter representations. Funerary cult.
6. Intellectual life expressions
6.1. Education: schools, teachers and students;
6.2. Literature: concepts and problems relating the transmission of literary works. Literary genres.
6.3. Exploring of scientific thought: fundaments. Sciences medicine, mathematic and astronomy.
