Objectives
a) To acquire historical knowledge as a means to understand the contemporary world
b) To discuss Portuguese History and European expansionism in the Modern world
c) To develop the ability to discuss concepts and their changing forms
d) To develop historical and cultural knowledge about the Portuguese speaking countries
e) To understand the notion of cultural relativism.

2.The movement of «dar ao Mundo a forma que o Mundo tem».
3.Discoveries and cultural renewal in the Renaissance: geographical expansion and knowledge, observation, experience and epistemological change
4.Assimilating the new; civilizational and cultural clashes.
5.Overseas expansion, Theology and Law. Land ownership, trade and evangelization
