Objectives
Attaining the C1 level of the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), where the student:
Becomes autonomous in his/her linguistic, discursive and cultural capabilities regarding the communicative
skills that are described in the C1 level of the CEFRL;
Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning;
Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions;
Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes;
Can produce clear, wellstructured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
Prerequisites
Subject matter
1 . SPEECH:
Oral comprehension and production:
Taking notes from audio documents;
Synthetically rephrasing conferences (synthesis of oral documents), creating abstracts from interventions,
taking part in debates and improvisation sessions and doing presentations about current social issues.
2. WRITING:
Comprehension activities: acquiring the techniques for writing abstracts and synthesis from various types of texts;
Writing activities: argumentative discourse: defending one´s opinion; commentary and dissertation as
academic models culturally situated;
Narratives: lexicon, anaphoric system, argumentative component;
Grammar: correct use of punctuation, collocation;
Identifying and decoding cultural references.
