Objectives

Acquisition of knowledge in the field of Linguistics that allows students:
a) to understand the structure of the work languages;
b) to identify and typify the translation difficulties related to linguistic properties;
c) to analyze and solve translation difficulties:
d) to acquire methodologies for registering linguistic information for future use.

Teaching method

Theoretical and practical classes and tutorial guidance, with resource to case studies and practical application of the acquired knowledge, including: i) topic presentation and explanation by the teacher; ii) discussion and analytic analysis of relevant literature and of paradigmatic examples of the difficulties and linguistic phenomena studied, by the teacher and students; iii) description and analysis of real examples in translation projects; (iv) performance of linguistic encoding tasks.

Evaluation method

Continuous evaluation, including the following components: 2 individual essays (accounting for 45% of the final grade); work developed and/or presented in class (accounting for 15% of the final grade) and a final individual test (accounting for 40% of the final grade).
