Objectives

a) To characterize the concepts of globalization and risk society;
b) To identify the problems arising from globalization and the current perception of risk;
c) To acquire tools to assess the major risks of current and possible balances in a global world;
d) To acquire skills to assess the impact of political and community interactions in a forward looking attitude with a view to achieving the objectives of sustainable development.

UC ends with several sessions devoted to practical construction of scenarios, where will be discussed, in a foresight vision, the issues addressed in the various modules.

Module 3. Looking to the Future – Anticipating Uncertainty in a Global World
1. Understanding the Uncertainties in a Global World and searching for Possible Responses
2. Presentation of a methodology used in scenarios building – Global Business Network
3. Building Scenarios according the methodology and its discussion

Teaching method

Presentation of the different subjects by the teacher and other invited experts. Presentation and discussion of texts and of the student’s researches. And “learn-by-doing”.

Evaluation method

• 65% Individual Report (paper version and CD)
• 35% Working Group – Building Scenarios and Oral Presentation.
