Objectives
The seminar will contribute for students development of the following capacities:
Critically assess the complex relationship between migration and development;
Identify and critically discuss the impact of migration on origin, destination and transit regions;
Recognise and critically discuss the main themes, policy and theoretical debates relating migration and development;
Identify research themes and propose research questions;
Convey knowledge, in oral and written presentations, in a synthetic and critical manner and mobilizing relevant empirical and theoretical material;
Understand the relevance of interdisciplinary work and ability to work in such contexts;
Apply scientific knowledge to non-academic contexts, reinforcing the ability to discuss with policy makers, private sector, etc.

Teaching method
In class teaching.
Theoretical and pratical sessions. Pratical sessions will be based on students oral presentations - bibliography´, essays or research projects - and/or presentations of exteranal experts followed by discussion with the students.
Evaluation method
Evaluation and weighting for the final grade: student´s participation in classes´ discussions (20%); oral presentation and discussion of a research theme (30%); written essay or research project (50%).
