Objectives
a)To discuss key concepts related to the global movement of migrants and their organization;
b) To analyze mobility issues and the integration of migrants at different scales;
c) To reflect on the role of migrants as links between the hosting and the sending societies and to see how migrants can contribute to the development of the origin societies;
d) Ability to formulate research proposals on multi-ethnic cities;

Lectures on the course´s major topics, and presentation and discussion of students´ essays. Field trip to Martim Moniz, the most multicultural area in Lisbon.

1. Term paper (70%), either a review article or an empirical study. Papers are presented and discussed during the last sessions of the curricular unit;
2. Attendance, participation and presentations in class (30%).
