Objectives

To associate PhD students to current research projects, thus contributing to improve their theoretical and methodological abilities and technical skills both in quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Prerequisites

None.

Subject matter

Students research (bibliographic review, and primary sources and data collection) will focus on four major themes: 1) Globalization Studies and Transnational Threats, 2) Human Security, 3) Demographic ageing, migrations and security risks, 4) Insecurity perceptions.

Teaching method

In order to improve their methodological abilities and technical skills, PhD students are expected to have an active participation in the seminar sessions, discussing the assigned readings, sharing their individual research experiences and regularly reporting on the work in progress.

Evaluation method

In the seminar sessions the work in progress and preliminary results of the above-mentioned research project are presented and discussed, as well as the students’ progress reports on
their bibliographic and empirical research. In the end, each student will submit a short written essay thereon.
