Objectives
This course is the first of four dedicated to the methodologies, methods and techniques of research in anthropology. Its objectives are:
1. to discuss the context and process of the emergence and consolidation of the social sciences and antropogia;
2. to present descriptive methodologies, methods and techniques available to anthropologists conduct research;
3. to provide students with a set of basic rules and procedures for fundamental research in anthropology;
4. to train students in reading, critical comment, systematic presentation and discussion of empirical and theoretical works.
Prerequisites
None.
Subject matter
Students should acquire basic knowledge on the following topics:
a) Emergence and consolidation of the social sciences, b) anthropology and other social sciences - borders and vicinities c) theory, method, analysis, three components of the same process, e) Ethics neutrality, objectivity, authorship, plagiarism, d) scientific knowledge and common sense, e) Conditions and criteria of objectivity in the social sciences, and) to explain the social by the social. f) The methodologies of the social sciences and ethnography, brief presentation.
Students should develop skills of:
a) instruments for collecting and processing information, b) Critical reading of texts c) scientific writing: main difficulties and errors d) Producing and using a bibliography, f) Standards for referral; g) to prepare and present an oral presentation; i) To prepare and present a visual presentation.

Teaching method
The combination of expository sessions held by the teacher, with the presentations and discussionsThe combination of expository sessions held by the teachers responsible, with the presentation and discussion hedl by the students based on texts previously recommended and in line with the contents of the programme allows students to: a) acquire fundamental knowledge about the main themes of the programme; b) develop autonomously their skills of critical reflection and argumentation; c) practice their skills in the public presentation of their
work.
This teaching methodology promotes the independence and creativity of students, as well as ensures that the main lines of the programme are presented and discussed with quality and accuracy.
Evaluation method
Regime of ongoing evaluation that integrates three different moments:
1. Individual exercise done in class and at home, followed by discussion with the professor - 30% of the final grade.
2. Group exercise done in class and at home, followed by discussion with the professor - 30% of the final grade.
3. Presential written test, without consultation, on the general subject taught. - 30% of final grade
