- Knowledge of the main characteristics of aesthetics;
- Characterization of the relation between art, philosophy and history;
- Capacity to identify the different disciplinary fields of aesthetics, art theory, art philosophy and art history;
- Knowledge of the main authors and key texts that mark the field of aesthetics:
- Capacity to identify and discuss the main theories and definitions of art;
- Development of the ability to problematize art works;
- Development of analytical competence regarding art works;
- Introduction to writing reflective and theoretical essays on art;

1. Answer the question what is art?
2. View, create and experience art: models of perception of the world and
objects - art as pleasure, as knowledge, as system
3. The artistic phenomenon and its relation to the experience of life
4. Poetry or technique? Artists or craftsmen? What for do we need the work of artists?
5. Things in the world versus art things: limits, determinations and consequences
6. Form and the idea: the play of imagination in the creation of meaning

Evaluation method
The evaluation will take into account 3 criteria:
1 - A research work with a maximum of 1,500 words about a conference / work of art of the students choice. This work must respect the methodology and the rules of scientific work force in FCSH.
2 - Final Assessment Test.
3 - The final grade is a weighted average of the following assessment: work, test and qualitative participation in classes.
