Objectives
a) To acquire translation skills into the foreign language in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities;
b) To develop linguistic proficiency in written German;
c) To analyze the specific characteristics of various texts;
d) To develop analytical skills and flexibility;
e) To learn and employ a variety of means of research.
Prerequisites
German language competence level A2.2.
Subject matter
a) Practicing translation into the foreign language in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities.
b) Translation issues (specific terminology, phraseology).
c) Resolution strategies (corpora, data bases, dictionaries, glossaries)

Teaching method
Analyzing and translating texts from Portuguese into German, correcting texts translated by fellow students, systematizing translation knowledge in general and knowledge of academic texts in particular, creating conceptually organized glossaries, seeking examples of academic translations, tests and correction of tests.
Reflection on translation processes and strategies.
Evaluation method
Coursework: 33.3% - Active participation in class; translation of texts, with and without previous preparation, individual and in groups, in class and out of class; critical analysis of translated texts and difficulties; autonomy and ability to self-monitor.
Formal assessment: 66.6% - 3 class tasks
Attendance: minimum two-thirds of classes
