Objectives
1. To develop in-depth and rigorous knowledge of the main historiographic traditions associated to Art Historys different areas of specialization
2. To develop in-depth knowledge of the most significant national and international bibliography on the historiography of art associated to specific research areas
3. To acquire the tools of reflections that are necessary to articulate a critical perspective in the context of the conception and realization of a research project in the field of Art History
4. To understand the main problems involved in the shaping of a research project in the field of Art History
5. To acquire in-depth knowledge of the formal aspects involved in the preparation and presentation of a PhD dissertation in the field of Art History
6. To know the most recent debates concerning Art History as a discipline

Teaching method
The seminars sessions involve presentations by the lecturers who are responsible for the course as well as by guest lecturers, researchers or specialists, invited on the base of their researchs interest. The presentations are followed by debates on the issues previously addressed or raised by the students own research focus. Besides the general bibliography of the course, each lecturer will provide the students with a specific bibliography on the subject of his/her presentation.
Evaluation method
A monthly paper on one of the themes addressed in the sessions (5 pages) A final essay (15 pages)
