Goals
This Ph.D Programme, proposed by the University of Porto and Universidade Nova de Lisboa, in collaboration with the University of Texas at Austin, provides specialized training in the area of Digital Media.
The emergence of new applications in the area of digital media such as videogames, interactive content on the web, interactive TV, video on demand, the emergence of educational software for high impact in the younger and, more recently, dissemination of news content, marketing and entertainment on mobile devices, demonstrates the importance of study and research about this type of content and study of its relationship with technology, different areas of science and society in general. It becomes even clearer the need for universities to educate professionals in this area, with capabilities related to various levels of training and in this case, the level of the third cycle.
The ultimate goal of this program will train researchers, academics, and leaders in innovation processes in key areas and applied to Digital Media.
Degree pre-requisites
The typical duration of this PhD programme is 4 years full-time (240 ECTS), corresponding 1 year to the curricular component (a PhD) and 3 years to the research component.
The Programme is organized in the following specialties: (1) Audiovisual and Interactive Content, (2) Technology, (3) Journalism, (4) Industry, and Public Markets. The curricular component common to the different specialties includes the following modules:
