Objectives
Provide content and work elements necessary to the understanding, definition and application of knowledge in Urban Planning, enabling:
1 - The understanding and interpretation of the concepts and principles of Urban Planning;
2 - Know the history of cities and its relationship with the evolution of societies;
3 – Recognize the basic principles of Sustainable Urban Planning;
4 – Recognize the basic principles of Inclusive Urban Planning;
5 – Know the law applicable to Urban Planning.

No requirements.
Subject matter
1 – Main concepts of Urban Planning;
2 – Historical evolution of cities and Urban Planning;
3 – Major urban problems;
4 –Natural, technological and mixed hazards;
5 – Territorial management instruments;
6 – New ways of seeing and living the cities.

Teaching method
Oral theoretical lectures.
Practical lab lessons with practical group work and individual research.
Evaluation method
The evaluation of this course is continuous, and consists of:
• Practical Work Group (TPG) 20% final grade
• Individual Practical Work (TPI) 40% final grade
• Written Theoretical Test 1 (TET1) 20% final grade
• Written Theoretical Test 2 (TET2) 20% final grade
(minimum grade TET: 7 points)
For approval of this course a minimum score of 9 points is required in the practical component of the course.
For approval of this course a minimum score of 7 points is required in the theoretical component of the course.
Obtaining frequency: minimal presence in 2/3 of the practical classes.
Students approved and with frequency in the practical component of the course, but who aren’t approved in the theoretical evaluation have access to a written exam.
