Education objectives

The postgraduate program in Information Analysis and Management trains technical staff and managers to guide through information analysis and management in organizations. The analysts and information managers have the vital task of organizing and analyzing information from organizations and translating it into actions to achieve tangible goals. The major goal of this program is to create skills for decision-making support and to promote decision-making’s improvements in organizations.

This postgraduate program is for anyone whose role requires the analysis and treatment of information i.e. Managers and technical staff involved in information production for strategic decision-making support in organizations. Marketing technical staff and managers, experts in market research and CRM, Information technologies managers, technical staff of Risk Management, Information systems managers, are among the target groups of this program.

The main goal of this program is to train technical staff and managers to:

- Develop techniques and methodologies for data collection;

- Apply various methodologies, tools and computational statistics to explore and analyze information in order to reduce levels of uncertainty associated with decision making;

- Communicate results, in written form and orally, adapting them to the level and interests of the audience.

Applications - academic year 2017/2018
To complete the application, the applicant must register in NOVA IMS' Applications Portal, fill the form, upload their Curriculum Vitae and submit the application in the end, from April 4th to May 11th, 2017. The selection process is based on the analysis of the applicant's academic and professional curriculum, and an interview.

Access conditions

The requirements for the applications are: a degree in a compatible field; analysis of the applicants' academic and professional curriculum; and an interview conducted by the Admissions' Jury Panel.

Degree pre-requisites

To earn the postgraduate program diploma in Information Analysis and Management, students complete 8 course units, of which 5 are mandatory and the 3 elective course units will be chosen by the students from a wide range of available course units. 

Access to other courses

The postgraduate program gives access to the master degree program in Statistics and Information Management, with a specialization in Information Analysis and Management, upon the development and presentation of a scholarly thesis, or work project or undertake an internship (subject of a final report) and the approval of the course unit Research Methodologies.

The enrollment in the postgraduate program allows the student to enroll in ten course units.
