Education objectives

The globalized environment in which businesses develop their activity promotes, as a critical success factor, the ability of organizations to access its own data, information, and knowledge.

The postgraduate program in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence aims to train experts and managers able to use business analytics processes and principles of knowledge management in order to support decision making in organizations, to induce the creation of value and enhance its competitiveness.

Among the potential target of this postgraduate program, we highlight those who have responsibilities in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence, Data Warehouses Managers as well as managers and leaders looking managers looking for added value provided from data warehouses of the organizations in which they develop their activity. This postgraduate program also aims at technical staff and managers that need to work together to launch BI initiatives.

The goal of this program is to train technical staff and managers to:

- Understand the process of Business Intelligence and its role in creating value for the business;

- Introduce the principles of Knowledge Management to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness, in order to promote the competitiveness of organizations;

- Use analytical applications to monitor organizations’ performance and visualization tools;

- Understand the purpose and meet the main techniques of Data Mining and Predictive Analytics;

- Identify the key indicators of the analytical applications in a business context.

Applications - academic year 2017/2018
To complete the application, the applicant must register in NOVA IMS' Applications Portal, fill the form, upload their Curriculum Vitae and submit the application in the end, from April 4th to May 11th, 2017. The selection process is based on the analysis of the applicant's academic and professional curriculum, and an interview.

Access conditions

The requirements for the applications are: a degree in a compatible field; analysis of the applicants' academic and professional curriculum; and an interview conducted by the Admissions' Jury Panel.

Degree pre-requisites

To earn the postgraduate program diploma in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence, students complete 8 course units, of which 6 are mandatory and the 2 elective courses will be chosen from a wide range of avaliable course units.

 

Access to other courses

The postgraduate program gives access to the master degree program in Information Management, with a specialization in Knowledge Management and Business Intelligence, upon the development and presentation of a scholarly thesis, work project or an internship, and th approval of the course unit Research Methodologies.

Note: the enrollment in the postgraduate program allows the student to enroll in ten course units.
