Objectives

In addition to technical skills, ITS professionals must understand the social and professional information technology and computing, and adhere to ethical codes of conduct in force in the organization. This knowledge area covers the historical, social, professional and ethical aspects of computing and social life in organizations. Identifies how teamwork is integrated in information technologies and how these support the organization. It also highlights technical professional writing and oral communication within the organization.

Teaching method

Theoretical lectures and practical exercises

Evaluation method

a) Continuous Assessment + Exam

+ Group resolution of 2 case studies (written essays): 20% 

+ Oral presentation/discussion of one case study in the classroom: 10%
+ individual test of continuous assessment (done half term; consultation of additional material is forbidden): 30% 
+ Individual exam (consultation of additional material is forbidden): 40%

b) Individual exam (for those students not included in continuous assessment, whereby consultation of additional material is forbidden): 100%

IMPORTANT NOTE:

-ALL groups should resolve two case studies. One case study will be presented in the classroom (according to a timetable determined by the teacher)

-Attendance at the oral presentation in the classroom is compulsory for ALL members of the group

-In addition to the presentation, groups should be prepared to answer questions from the teacher and/or audience

-The members of the group will all receive the same grade for the presentation

-The resolution of the case study should be supported by theoretical inputs (according to the topic/chapter of the book)

-Creativity and innovation are strongly encouraged, as is the use of visual aids and technology

-Essays must be handed in on the same day as the oral presentation

- Those students who successfully complete all phases of the continuous assessment may choose to sit their exam in the 1st or 2nd season
