Teaching method
The classes consist of discussions about both the theory and its applications. Classroom participation is expected and required. Through a teaching approach that mixes case studies, short videos, class discussions and presentations, you will learn the topics referred.
Evaluation method
Group Work (50%): A social entrepreneurship structured solution based on the course main topics. Maximum of 15 pages of written work and a pitch which will be presented on October 15th session. The written work will count for ¾ of your mark and must be delivered until March 9 and the others ¼ will be evaluated by the judge of the pitch session. Individual Briefing Paper (25%): Briefing Paper with a maximum of 5 pages (not counting with title page, table of contents, annexes, references, etc.). A good Briefing Paper should include:
‐ A clear statement of the theme and small summary of the issue;
‐ A brief background to the issue (or issues);
‐ A concise analysis of the issues, implications, and options;
‐ Conclusions and recommendations for action, which may include your opinion, supported by evidence;
This Briefing Paper must be related to Social Entrepreneurship and more specifically to the different topics approached during the course. You should think about the theme in terms of a question or a problem. For example, picking class 8 s topic, getting adequate funding is one of the main challenges for social entrepreneurs, what type of solutions can social investors develop to solve this issue
‐ The Individual Briefing Paper must be submitted by Moodle by the 19th March (11am). Individual Final Exam (25%): The final exam covers all topics in the course.Adjustments of 0.5 points in the final grade (in either direction) can be made, based on other information available such as participation in class and contribution to the coursework. The general rules of the University apply in case of academic dishonesty and in any situation not foreseen in the above.
