Education objectives
This master aims to train engineers capable of designing, planning, design, manage and implement solutions, taking water as the subject of work. The Master of Engineering and Water Management must be able to address the problems of water resources in an integrated manner considering its multiple aspects, including ecological, social, economic and technological developments in order to contribute to a balanced and sustained development. In the exercise of their profession, the Master of Engineering and Water Management must be able to:
- Understand the physical processes chemical, biological and socio-economic problems underlying the field of movement and water management, and specifically in the areas of hydraulics, hydrology and water resources.
- Dealing with complexity, uncertainty and the interdisciplinary nature of the problems of water management, recognizing its technical aspects, ecological, economic and social development.
- Select and use the methodologies and techniques to analyze problems in the field of water, including the monitoring of resources, experimental work and field data analysis, statistics, mathematical modeling and systems analysis.
- Inventory, characterize and formulate the diagnosis of problems that relate to the protection, recovery, planning and management of water resources.
- Developing and designing policies, strategies, measures and solutions to the problems identified and analyzed the consequences of proposed solutions.
- Develop, measure and manage projects on water infrastructure and water potentials.
- Develop research, independently, in the scientific areas of hydraulics, hydrology and water resources.
Careers
The Master of Engineering and Water Management provides technical and scientific training appropriate to the successful performance in the following organizations:
- Business Consulting, Project and Audit;
- Service Companies and, in particular, Enterprise Management Services Water;

Evaluation rules
The following modes of evaluation are used with regard to academic qualifications:
- Evaluation based solely on an examination or completion of a final project.
- Evaluation based on work done throughout the semester excluding examination or final project. In these courses students can expect to carry out, for example, laboratory activities, mini-tests, tests, individual or group projects, seminar-related activities, any combination of which will be used to determine the final grade.
- Evaluation based obligatorily on an examination or a final project. In these courses there extists a form of evaluation similar to one of the aformentioned activities in paragraph 2 as well as a form of evaluation based on a final exam.
- Evaluation based on work done throughout the semester with the possibility of foregoing an examination or a final project.
The final Dissertation (or Project) involves a public discussion with a Jury.
