Objectives
1. To learn the basic technologies and methodologies of the industrial automation.
2. To develop the abstract reasoning capabilities on identifying possible models and solutions for small to medium complexity automation problems, with the help of the learned methodologies and technologies.
3. To give the students the capability of implementing true automation solutions, namely by laboratory practice.
4. To inhabit the students on searching for adequate automation equipments, available on the market, for different automation problems.
Subject matter
1. Introduction to automatic systems: automation, control and supervision.
2. Digital systems, Boolean algebra and finite automatas.
3. Automatic systems specifications. Grafcet and Gemma.
4. Automation with pneumatic and electropneumatic technologies.
5. Automation with electromagnetic technology.
6. Common electromagnetic control schemes.
7. Programmable logic controllers (PLCs): 6.1 Twido PLC: programming in languages LD and IL; 6.2 Zelio PLC: programming in languages functional block diagram (FBD) and SFC; 6.3 TSX3721 PLC and simulator PLC-Sim_v2.5: ST language.
8. DC and AC motor speed controller technologies. Programming of AC speed controllers from Omron and Schneider Electric.
9. Introduction to industrial field networks (Modbus, Canopen, ASI, Profibus, industrial Ethernet, etc).
